Backend Java Developer / Irving, TX / Hybrid

Based in DFW, a major U.S. financial institution provides banking, investment, and lending services, supported by a large retail network. Established in 1852, it is recognized for its iconic stagecoach symbol and efforts to innovate and rebuild trust in recent years.

This company is hiring a backend Java developer to build and improve backend systems, enhance applications, and work with teams. The role requires expertise in Java, experience with frameworks like Spring Boot, and knowledge of API development and databases. 

Required Skills and Experiences

• Strong understanding of Java programming, including object-oriented principles.
• Experience with Java frameworks, particularly Spring Boot for building robust backend applications.
• Ability to design and develop RESTful APIs for communication between systems.
• Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and SQL, along with database design and optimization.
• Experience with cloud services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Understanding of Agile practices for iterative development and collaboration within teams.
• Proficiency with tools like Git for source code management.
• Skills in unit testing and debugging to ensure software quality.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to tackle complex technical challenges.
• Good written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice To Have

• Experience with microservices and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
• Cloud-native development and familiarity with NoSQL databases.
• Performance tuning and security best practices.
• Exposure to big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
• Basic front-end knowledge for full-stack collaboration.
• Leadership or mentoring experience.

What You Will Be Doing

• Designing, coding, and implementing scalable backend applications using Java and relevant frameworks.
• Building and maintaining RESTful APIs for seamless integration with other systems.
• Managing and optimizing relational databases, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Working closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., front-end developers, product managers) to ensure seamless system integration.
• Participating in code reviews, writing unit tests, and ensuring software quality and performance.
• Identifying and resolving issues to ensure smooth functionality and minimal downtime.
• Implementing best practices for development, performance, and security.
• Contributing to sprint planning, daily standups, and iterative development cycles within Agile methodologies.
