We are helping a research company hire a fulltime Sr. Linux Systems Engineer for their Chicago office. This will be a hybrid role in the loop. This company provides insights and tools to help investors make informed decisions in the financial markets.
In this role, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing Linux-based infrastructure, while automating key processes using tools like Ansible. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support and enhance cutting-edge financial research tools and systems. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance across complex, multi-tier applications.

Required Skills & Experience
- Experience with Linux-based operating systems such as RHEL, Ubuntu, or similar distributions.
- Proficiency in automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Strong scripting skills in languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
- Knowledge of configuration management and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
- Experience designing and maintaining high availability, scalable, and high-performance systems.
- Familiarity with log aggregation tools such as ELK, Splunk, or Graylog.
- Experience supporting and maintaining complex, multi-tier applications.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies like VMware and Xen, as well as containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts such as VLANs, DNS, and load balancing.
- Experience in managing complex projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Expertise in incident management, troubleshooting, and providing root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern application deployment practices.
- 5+ years of experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field
- Familiarity with mail services such as Postfix, Dovecot, and amavisd.
- Experience configuring Oracle, MS SQL, and NoSQL databases.
- Knowledge of virtualization platforms like XenServer, XCP-NG, and VMware.
- Familiarity with PHP programming.
- Experience working in PCI-compliant environments.
- Experience with LDAP management.
