We are seeking a skilled and motivated VMware Engineer to join our clients IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, deploying, and managing VMware environments to support the organization's critical systems. This role will involve optimizing virtualization platforms, ensuring high availability, and maintaining performance while adhering to industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain VMware-based infrastructure, including vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi hosts.
- Perform regular maintenance, upgrades, and patching of VMware environments to ensure security and optimal performance.
- Manage and configure virtual machines (VMs), virtual networks, and virtual storage to support enterprise applications and workloads.
- Monitor VMware systems for performance, availability, and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide scalable, efficient, and secure virtualization solutions.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and implement replication strategies using VMware technologies like Site Recovery Manager (SRM).
- Troubleshoot and resolve VMware-related issues, including system failures and performance bottlenecks.
- Create and maintain documentation for VMware infrastructure, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Stay updated on VMware technologies, tools, and best practices to recommend improvements and enhancements.
- Support compliance efforts by ensuring VMware environments adhere to organizational and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a VMware Engineer or similar role.
- Expertise in VMware products such as vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, and NSX.
- Proficiency in virtualization technologies, including server, storage, and networking concepts.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation in VMware environments.
- Strong understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with automation tools such as PowerShell, vRealize, or Ansible is a plus.
- VMware certifications (e.g., VCP, VCAP, or VCDX) are highly desirable.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
