Senior Cloud Systems Administrator

The Senior Cloud Systems Administrator will manage and migrate the product technology stack in the Azure IL5 environment, optimize cloud services, and ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards by applying patches and updates. This role also involves supporting cybersecurity teams in updating RMF packages and integrating the platform with Microsoft 365 services. Key technologies include Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS, database and application servers, and the Appian business process management platform.

The company is located in Aberdeen, MD and will require onsite as needed.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Maintain and ensure high reliability and availability of the product technology stack in Azure IL5.
  • Migrate the product from its current environment to the target Azure environment.
  • Optimize cloud services to reduce operating costs.
  • Install patches and updates to meet cybersecurity and feature compliance requirements.
  • Support cybersecurity personnel with RMF package updates for ATO.
  • Assist the data pipeline engineer with product integration to Microsoft 365 services.
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Manage a Kubernetes cluster and containerized applications, preferably including Appian.
  • Manage networking technologies to ensure secure and reliable connectivity.
  • Oversee a production environment with automated installation, build/deployment, configuration management, enterprise monitoring, server virtualization, load balancing, web servers, application servers, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field, with 4+ years of experience, OR non-directly related degree with technical certifications and 7+ years of experience.
  • Experience with Appian software installation and maintenance in both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Experience managing Kubernetes clusters and containerized applications, ideally Appian.
  • Proficiency in managing approved server or desktop operating systems (e.g., Windows, Unix, or Red Hat Linux), including setup, configuration, and security hardening.
  • Experience configuring and managing Microsoft 365 and Azure services.
  • Background in managing networking technologies, including TCP/IP, firewalls, routing, VLANs, and network troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in managing production environments with automated installation, build/deployment, configuration management, enterprise monitoring, virtualization, load balancing, web servers, application servers, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Design and Implementation (Azure DevOps)
  • Scripting (PowerShell, Bash)
  • Containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Cloud Architecture and Design
  • Knowledge of DoD STIGs
  • Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep, ARM, PowerShell, Terraform)
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, or Perl
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
Required Certifications:
  • Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) or Certified Kubernetes Administrator
  • Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect
  • CompTIA Security+ CE (or other DoD 8570 IAT II certification)
